Save Yourself From The Dieting Madness
Anyone who has a radio, television or computer has been exposed to the over saturation of dieting products and advertisements. The dieting industry is a 3 to 7-billion dollar industry and shows no sign of slowing down.
The world has become obsessed with getting in shape, exercise products, diet products and critiquing anyone in the public eye or just an average person. In the middle of the dieting storm are prejudices that are exposed. Discrimination against an individual based on weight, height, looks, race, ethnicity and age are ever present in society. When a female celebrity has a child she immediately has to lose weight fast or risk being ridiculed by the media and the rest of the public. Weight and dieting have become such an issue that people have committed suicide over not being accepted based on weight and looks.
Self-esteem programs are being created to educate the public about the importance of good health but not at the expense of someone’s self-esteem. Saving oneself from the dieting madness can be a constant battle because of the pressure from outside influences, family and friends to look good. All is not lost and if an individual wants to lose weight and get in shape, he or she can do it. The most important aspect to losing weight is the decision to lose the weight the right way. Always consult with a doctor before starting a weight loss program and consult with a nutritionist if possible. Registering for an exercise program at the local YMCA is a good idea, applying for a health club membership is also a smart move, exercising with friends or creating an exercise club is a thought. Visiting the local library and checking out books on nutrition, low-fat cooking, vegetarian cooking or even low-carb cooking is a smart way to take control of one’s diet. Also checking out DVD’s or exercise books from the library can aid in getting in shape.
Breaking away from the dieting madness and learning to take control over one’s diet and health can be soul saving and life saving. Learning to turn off the television when the diet propaganda becomes overwhelming is the best step forward to good health, a healthy mind and healthy diet. Saving oneself from the dieting madness is a full-time job and lifelong commitment. There’s no price that can be put upon good health or a healthy lifestyle.
