Beat the Carb Cravings
Carbohydrates have their place in everyone’s diet, however they can be pretty tricky to manage and it seems like everything that tastes good is full of carbohydrates.
All of the comfort foods that we are used to are carbohydrates. We often crave carbohydrates and when we cannot have them, we seem to crave them even more. Carbohydrates can be a hindrance when trying to lose weight. Their overindulgence has also been linked to weight gain. So what can we do to help beat carbohydrate cravings? Your carbohydrate cravings can be helped by keeping your blood sugar under control. When you blood sugar drops to a level that is too low for your body to handle you being to crave sugar and carbohydrates.
If you manage to keep your blood sugar under control you will be able to control your carbohydrate cravings. Remember to eat breakfast every day. Breakfast will help you keep your blood sugar under control and will help you to not over eat throughout the day. Remember to eat a diet in protein rich foods. Snacks such as peanuts, peanut butter, hardboiled eggs are other nuts that are low in carbohydrates and high in protein are a great way to snack without over indulging. If you would like to take a vitamin supplement to help your carbohydrate cravings, remember to get a supplement that has magnesium in them. When our bodies are low on magnesium you will crave foods like chocolate. There are vitamins available that also help you curb your carbohydrate cravings.
There are other ways to keep your carbohydrate cravings at bay. Brush your teeth, or use breath strips that can help numb your mouth and make it feel fresh enough that you don't want to eat. Get out and do something active, this will keep your mind off of your cravings are also help your body as well. One of the most important things you can do for yourself is to not deny yourself. Denying your cravings only makes things worse for you. If you do not satisfy yourself your cravings may keep getting worse and worse until you over indulge when you finally do eat. Satisfying your cravings in small amounts or moderation is a very healthy way to control your carbohydrate cravings.
